Under the Veil: Mastering Common Bridal Alterations

May 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Wedding gowns are some of the most complex garments in the world, often featuring hidden corsetry, delicate lace appliqués, and ten-foot hems. Whether you’re looking to tailor your own gown or are curious about the professional world of bridal alterations, this evening is dedicated to demystifying the “White Dress.”

On Monday, May 4th at 6:30PM, we’ll go beyond basic sewing to explore the structural engineering that makes bridal gowns look effortless—and how to adjust them without losing their magic.

What We’ll Explore:

The “Big Three”: A deep dive into the three most common bridal requests: The Hem, The Side Seams, andThe Bustle.

Lace & Appliqué Work: How to “hand-pick” and move lace to hide seams and closures invisibly.

Anatomy of a Gown: Understanding internal waist tapes, cups, and stabilizers.

The Consultation: Tips for marking a gown, managing client expectations, and why the right shoes and undergarments change everything.

Is this for me?

This workshop is perfect for intermediate sewists, aspiring bridal tailors, or anyone who has ever looked at a wedding dress and wondered, “How do they even sew that?”
