Whether you’re a seasoned sewist or just starting\, this in-person event is perfect. \nDon’t have anything to sew and need a project? Donate your time to a Charity Sewing Project! We have plenty of lounge pants for Reese’s LairWear and ditty bags for the Seamens Church (seamenschurch.org) that need to be sewn. Why not spend a few hours donating your time to these noble causes? \nDon’t have anything to sew? Come Network and Chat! We would love to see you anyway. \nWe’ll be gathering at the Sheridan Public Library in the Thersa Dando Meeting Room\, from 12:00PM – 4:00PM.  We hope to see you there! \nThis event is free\, however\, a $5 donation to help cover costs would be appreciated.

DESCRIPTION:You’ve researched the history\, sketched your vision\, and selected your fabric. Now\, it’s time for the most critical step in garment architecture: The Fitting. \nIn this hands-on follow-up session on Monday\, June 1st at 6:30PM at the Koelbel Public Library (Room A)\, we move from the drawing board to the body. Whether you have sewn a complete muslin or are ready to pin-fit your fashion fabric\, this workshop is dedicated to achieving that “made-to-measure” look that defines a classic Little Black Dress. \nWhat We’ll Accomplish: \n\nThe Muslin Review: We’ll evaluate the drape and silhouette of your mock-ups\, identifying areas for adjustment before you cut into your final fabric.\nLive Pin-Fitting: Work collaboratively to pin and tuck for a precision fit. We’ll address common adjustments like dart placement\, hem length\, and neckline depth.\nProblem Solving: Encountering a gap in the armscye or a pull across the hips? We will troubleshoot fit issues as a group\, learning from each other’s unique garment structures.\nFinalizing the Blueprint: Transfer your fitting adjustments back to your paper patterns so your final LBD is flawless.\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nYour Garment: A basted muslin mock-up or your fashion fabric garment ready for pin-fitting.\nEssential Kit: Fabric shears\, plenty of straight pins\, a measuring tape\, and marking chalk/pens.\nThe Right Undergarments: To ensure an accurate fit\, please wear the undergarments (and shoes!) you plan to wear with your finished dress.\n\n  \nNote: This is a collaborative environment. Be prepared to assist your fellow designers with pinning and measurements! \n

The Colorado Chapter of ASDP invites you to a charity sewing marathon focused on comfort and care. Whether you are a master tailor or a skilled hobbyist\, your hands can help make a difference. \nOur Projects\nWe have selected two impactful organizations to support this year: \nLounge Pants for Reese’s Lair Wear: We will be sewing cozy\, comfortable lounge pants designed to bring comfort to those in need. \nDitty Bags for The Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI): We will be constructing durable ditty bags. These bags are a vital part of SCI’s “Christmas at Sea” program\, providing seafarers and mariners with essential personal care items and a touch of home while they are far out at sea. \nWhy Attend?\nThis is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow sewing professionals in the Colorado area\, share tips\, and contribute to two fantastic causes. \n“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of others.” — Let’s use our needles and thread to do just that.
